Abstract Launch loads are critical forces to the payload. Many structures not designed survive these loads, thus, additional systems which absorb them required. These launch lock mechanisms available in different varieties. For a future magnetic bearing reaction wheel, two principles of mechanism concepts were developed and tested. The first one is based on spring mechanism, while second uses electromagnetism move locking pins. A testing with prototypes both was conducted evaluate functionality. Subsequently improvements regarding reducing mass construction volume incorporated design. In course this, additive manufacturing PLA filament has been used study possible applications for mechanisms. concept resulted be more reliable than electromagnetic one, but requires damping mechanism. usage manufactured components promising possibility production.
